Tell me about your piece today and art in general.

This piece is based on my heritage as a Navaho woman. I am showing different blankets that people wear or create. Also, the hats that people are wearing. You will see that a lot in Southwest culture, which is where my tribe is from.  My art in general revolves around Navaho heritage, and pow wow dancers. A pow wow is a Native American gathering where you can see dancing. These dances come from a long line of heritage. Overall, I represent native people from what you see in our heritage and from a modern aspect.

Is the hat that you are wearing a traditional hat?

No, this is a generic modern hat. The bandana around it is a native design.
