Tell me what you just did.
I just won the Arnold MAS Wrestling Championship for the Heavyweight Division.
How did you get into this?
I got into MAS Wrestling about 5 years ago. Odd Haugen, the organizer and US representative, forced me into the competition one morning in Chicago. I fell in love with it.
Do you get to eat what you want?
Yes, being a heavyweight. I must have some size to my advantage.

How do you train?
I have a training partner that is close to my size and strength. We train with each other one or two days a week. We will do 15 matches a session. Most tournaments are about 3 to 5 matches. I do a lot of heavy squats and awkward deadlifts to train my grip, back and legs. I never wear a belt when I train for MAS. On the board, I won’t be wearing a belt, so it builds up core strength.
Here are a few pictures from the competition:

Anything else?
It is an amazing sport. You do not have to be a big strong guy to do it. Anyone can do it. It is simple. It is explosive. It is so much fun. I recommend anyone to give it a try.
