Let’s talk about yesterday lifting 550 kilos (1,212.54 pounds) in the seated deadlift.

A pretty big lift aaah?

For sure. How did you get into this?

My partner got me into the whole sport. We were at another sporting event. A guy came up and said, “Dude you are massive, you gotta go for the Strongman”. I went to my first competition. Came second in it. I thought, I need to keep doing this. This is my fourth year. In 2018, I was the World’s Strongest Disabled man. Last year, I set four World records. This year, I just smashed my own World record.

How do you train?

I don’t train too much at deadlift. I think if you train too much, it messes with your head. I do a lot of base fitness and strength. So, normal gym work. I train for 3 hours 5 days a week. My diet at the moment is 8,000 calories. That is a lot of food.

Is that clean eating?

Not particularly. With Strongman you need that layer of fat. Bodybuilders are on chicken and rice. They want to shed fat. We want to put it on. We need the explosive power that comes from fat.

Anything else?

I am addicted to chocolate.

Sidebar: I also love chocolate.
