Arnold Strongman Classic 2020: Elephant Bar Deadlift
Background: Ten men prequalified to compete in the Arnold Strongman Classic competition. The competition includes several feats of strength: Bag over Bar, Trial by Stone, Wheel of Pain, Timber Carry, Elephant Bar Deadlift, and Cyr Strategic Challenge.
“The lifter must pull from the floor to a locked out top position. The legs and body must be held straight and motionless and the shoulders must be in line with the sides of the body. The knees must be straight at the finish of the lift. During the lift, the bar can be hitched, stopped, and even lowered so long as it is brought to the correct finish position at the conclusion of the lift. “
Sidebar: This event not only featured the strength of the athletes but also a little bit of their personality.
Here are the highlights:
Sidebar: Mateusz Kieliszkowski won three of the first five events (Trial by Stone, Wheel of Pain, and Timber Carry). He finished 8th in this event and second in the Arnold Strongman Classic.
Sidebar: Hafthor Bjornsson, “The Mountain” finished first in this event lifting 1,026 pounds (465 kgs). He won his third consecutive Arnold Strongman Classic.
