The Franklin Park Conservatory offers unique and picturesque backgrounds for environmental photography.
My favorite song of the sing along is the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
It’s the picture where there is a woman in a red dress dancing in a juke joint where all these guys are watching her as she is dancing by herself. That was based off the work of an artist named Keb-mo. He is a delta blues singer. The song is called “She Just Loves to Dance”. The painting came to be as I listened to that song repeatedly.
This is one of Ron Anderson’s students. Her look determined a lot. Through her eyes you can read the soul of this world. Who am I? I love being a black woman.
“Man, with flute” is a bronze piece originally carved in stone. I broke the piece because I didn’t want to do a limited edition. I just wanted one piece in bronze.
I really must pay homage to those who came before me. That is the reason I was excited to participate in this event today. It is a way to honor all those writers and poets in the Harlem Renaissance.
This is our fourth annual 24-Hour Board Game Marathon for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. It is part of Extra Life which is a global game day. It is held first Saturday of every month. There are people all over the world video gaming and board gaming that raise money for local children’s hospitals.
With Blood on the Clock Tower your team wins. There is a good team and an evil team. Also, there is no player elimination, which means that even if you get killed, you are still able to participate in the game. It keeps everyone involved until the very end.
It is a heavy economic Euro game set it Chicago around the turn of the century. We are excited about it because it combines 18xx game mechanics with heavy euro games.
I think this festival is good for families. Besides good food, they have rides and games you can play. If you don’t ride, you can have fun eating or playing games. The parking is close. You can just about stretch your leg out and you are at the festival.
Over the years, you build friendship with the people who come here. We have competitions, shooting, knife, and rifle; but mostly comradery. I enjoy history and keeping the old ways alive.
The children seemed to really enjoy petting the animals and jumping in the bounce houses.
It is the precursor of the piano and the harpsichord. Someone said the dulcimer is a piano on standard transmission. You don’t have the keys. You are hitting directly on the piano wires with the hammers.
Why chalk art?
Because it’s fun. It’s pretty. It is something that you must capture in the moment. You must see it in person.
I will say this about the African culture. It is good to come together and celebrate who we are, in every form, in every way, with all our talents and be able to express ourselves. Then, we will realize how many other people can relate to us.
It is 50 plus artists. They each get either an 8 by 4 or a 4 by 4 panel. It is a free for all. You do whatever you want in the two days allotted.
Basically, it is plant based. No animals are harmed. If you are Vegan, there are no eggs and no dairy. It is basically fruits.
Vegan and vegetarians have to make sure they are getting all the necessary nutrients. If your fruit or vegetable is not in season or indigenous to where you are living, it is probably not going to help you.
We don’t promote baby steps. We think it is time to make a big step. We are not about meatless Monday or reducing consumption.
My work is about the transformation of imagery. I am curious as to what more can there be in an image.
If you like amateur boxing and can only attend one event in the Columbus area, this is the one to attend.
All the proceeds go to the James (The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center). We have over 200 cars already and they are still coming in. We will raise quite a bit of money today.
I walked away impressed with the elected officials who not only came to the event but stayed and participated.
We are coordinating with Third Way Café and Clay Street Ceramics. Our whole block is “Westgate Business Works.” We are trying to bring small business back to the hilltop area and the Westgate neighborhood.
I think more people should embrace art and make our cars more fun to look at while we are driving around town.
Everyone should drive an art car. It’s wonderful. You never experience road rage.
We will help you as much as you need. You paint it. You leave it. We fire it. Then, you come back and pick up your masterpiece in about seven (7) days.
We are partnered with Coffee Crafters. They do great work in the prison system training people to become baristas (a person who is trained to make coffee specialty drinks).
There is no way you can see everything the fair has to offer in one day. The Ohio State Fair is what you make it.
The course consists of nine obstacles: tire run and flip, tunnel crawl, cargo climb, balance beam, belly crawl, monkey bars, over under log jumps (the intent is to jump over one log that is a few feet tall then go under the next log and so on), wall climb, and log run.
The murals are a way for different communities to come together, paint, and have a good time. We usually partner with a local volunteer organization or company and are always welcoming new faces to paint and be part of our family!
This organization is based on human connection. It is for women in the creative fields.
We love to do things across the city and address all types of issues: hunger, homelessness, education, environmental, disabilities, etc. We have a project for everybody.
As a blogger, I wanted to interact with a few of the food truck owners to get insight on their claim to fame. As a foodie, I wanted to make sure that when I purchased my lunch I was getting the best of the best.
We just want people to come out and celebrate the heritage of the neighborhood.
This is one of my favorite festivals because they pack a lot in a smaller area.
As an artist I’m learning every single day.
We are in 2018 and we still have some frustrations with the current administration, but this administration is trying to work to help bring the Hilltop back.
What can businesses do to intentionally impact our society in a positive way especially in mass incarceration and the opioid epidemic?
This organization is all about the children and working with the mothers who are the victims of human trafficking.
A fellowship like no other!
The parade is what you make it.
I LOVE COMFEST!
Jerry page then and now…
Columbus Arts Festival… Art at its finest!
James “Buster” Douglas, A typical day at the office.
This festival reminds me of all that is great about our culture.
Ohio Roller Derby… A little different that I expected.
