I talked to Julian Jefko participating in “Strictly Letters” at Lookout Supply, 3440 W. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43204.

Tell me about your artistic journey.
I love hip hop. I rap. I have been rapping since I was in middle school. I did graffiti for a little bit. I have been getting back into it for the last six months or so. I love art. I love seeing other people’s art. I love social events like this. You get to hang out. You get to meet new people. You get to relax. If you have a hard day, you can come here, it is a calming thing. I spent three hours on this and now I get to see the work I put in.

Is this your first piece on something this size?
Yes, it is my first piece using spray paint doing something this big. I drew a sketch on paper first. I had three or four different versions. This is the one I liked the best. I came here to test out the colors. It was originally pink and green. I didn’t like it; so, I changed it to yellow. I asked Matt to help me with the fade because I don’t know how to fade. This is what it ended up being. I am pretty satisfied with it.
Sidebar: I love it! Having the courage to try something new.
