I talked to Andy Smith while participating in Scribble (a mini-Scrawl) at the Columbus Arts Festival 20223.

Tell me about your art journey?

I have been drawing and painting most of my life. I started getting into spray paint about 3 years ago. It is all I want to do. Some people play video games. I draw and paint.

Do you have an artistic theme or style?

I think I am an abstract cubist pop surrealist. I like geometry, gnarly creatures and having fun.

Tell me about this specific piece.

It is a griffin trapped in a bear trap. The border is the bear trap. You can tell by the triangles at the bottom. I like doing mythological creatures. I think they speak to our hopes, dreams, and desires. Whether good or bad, I think they speak to the human condition.
